City of Frisco Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice

Notice of Public Hearing and Comment Period

June 11, 2010-July 14, 2010

Under the Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, the City of Frisco is required to certify that it will affirmatively further fair housing choice through the following:  conducting of an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice to identify impediments to fair housing choice in the jurisdiction, implementing a plan of action to overcome the barriers, evaluating outcomes, and maintaining records of the results of the plan.

The City of Frisco has prepared a draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice in accordance with Section 808 of the Fair Housing Act and it will be available for a public comment period prior to adoption by the Housing Trust Fund Board and City Council.  A draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice is expected to be available for public review and comment on June 11, 2010.  A copy of the draft document may be obtained online by clicking here, or at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd., Frisco, TX 75034.

The Housing Trust Fund Board of the City of Frisco will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, 6:30 p.m. City Council Chambers to receive public comments concerning the Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice.  The location of the City Council Chambers is the first floor of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd., Frisco, Texas 75034. 

Alternatively, citizens may submit their questions or comments in writing through Tuesday, July 14, 2010 to Nell Lange, Assistant City Manager, City of Frisco, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd., Frisco, Texas 75034 or via fax at (972) 292-5122 or e-mail to: nlange@friscotexas.gov.  All written comments will be provided to the Housing Trust Fund Board for consideration.

City of Frisco Five Year Consolidated Plan 2010-2014

Notice of Public Hearings

A public hearing on the draft Consolidated Plan will be held by the Housing Trust Fund Board on the following dates at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, City Council Chambers, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd., Frisco, TX 75034

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.

 Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.

 Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.

Under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, the City of Frisco is required to develop a Consolidated Plan to outline specific housing and community development priorities for the upcoming five-year period. The purpose of the Community Development Block Grant is to support and perform activities which primarily benefit low and moderate income persons and prevent or eliminate slums or blight.  In Fiscal Year 2010, the City of Frisco expects to receive approximately $314,244 in funding under the CDBG Program.  Of that amount, approximately 15% or $47,136 is expected to be used to support public/social services. 

A draft Consolidated Plan is available for public review and comment on or about April 12, 2010.  A copy of the draft document may be obtained online at George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, 5th Floor, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd., Frisco, Texas 75034.

The entire draft Consolidated Plan will be available for a 60-day public comment period prior to adoption by City Council and submission to HUD.

Housing Rehabilitation Program - The City of Frisco's Housing Rehabilitation Program is funded by the City of Frisco's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).  These funds are awarded to the City of Frisco by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Our goal is to preserve existing low and moderate income housing, to assist very low, low, and moderate income owners/occupants in bringing their dwellings up to an acceptable standard, and to enhance and revitalize neighborhoods within the City.  The home must be a single-family dwelling and owner-occupied by a family that meet guidelines.
